All things new
Each spring, one of my favorite verses in Scripture seems to leap out from nature itself.
“Behold, I make all things new.” (Rev. 21:5)

This is proclaimed by God himself, seated on the throne, declaring the goodness of the New Heaven and the New Earth. It is a promise of re-creation, redemption and restoration. It comes to mind when I see daffodils bursting from the just-thawed ground, plump buds adorning a once-barren tree, a rainbow as a storm clears. To me, springtime echoes God’s promise for new life and redemption.
In this issue’s cover story, you’ll meet Norbert Guzman, whose own story of redemption is a powerful testimony to God’s merciful promise to “make all things new.” In “Whole & Holy,” the Sisters offer insight on how we can approach the shame we may experience in a way that trusts in God’s promises and forgiveness. You can also learn about the Sacred Heart devotion—and the U.S. bishops' upcoming consecration of our country to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
As spring turns to summer, may the Holy Spirit open our eyes so that we can behold how God makes all things new—including our own hearts. Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine. (From the Litany of Humility)
