Catholic Schools Week celebrates faith and community

Catholic school students nationwide celebrated the joy and value of Catholic education during Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 25 to 31. This year’s theme, “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community,” reflected the shared mission that brings students, families and educators together.

Catholic Schools Week highlights the many ways Catholic schools serve both the Church and the wider community. Throughout the week, students, families and staff enjoy special Masses, prayer services, assemblies, service projects and fun school activities that celebrate faith, learning and community.

"Catholic Schools Week is one of the best weeks of the school year,” said Superintendent Dr. Cormac Lynn. “I was blessed this week to be able to visit and engage with each of our school communities in some way. I was able to experience the Mass, formation opportunities, intentional prayer opportunities, community service, camaraderie and games, as well as serve hot chocolate and ice cream to students (and a few adults). Through all of these experiences, I was again able to witness the impact and the difference that Catholic education can have on our students, families and community. I am grateful for all those that make Catholic education available to our students."

At the heart of each school’s celebration is the close-knit, family atmosphere that makes Catholic schools unique — communities united in faith, service and love.
