Bishop Gruss welcomes new communications director, CFO
In September, Bishop Robert Gruss announced two new members of the diocesan chancery team: John Gonzalez, director of communications, and Michael Beaudoin, chief financial officer. Both men come with more than 30 years of experience in their fields and will serve on the Mission Leadership Team, discerning God’s will for our Diocese and providing strategic direction and long-range planning.
Director of Communications
A Capac native, John Gonzalez will provide strategic direction and coordination for all Diocesan communications and be the diocesan spokesperson handling external communications and media relations.
Before accepting the Director of Communications role with the Diocese of Saginaw, John served as the executive director of Tri-Cities Puentes Initiative and in the communications department at West Catholic High School in Grand Rapids. Prior to that, John worked for 30 years in radio, TV, print and digital media. His work has been published across the state.
"I am deeply honored and excited to step into the role of Director of Communications for the Diocese of Saginaw,” John said. “I truly believe that this opportunity is a calling from God, guiding me to serve this vibrant community in a meaningful way. … I look forward to working alongside Bishop Gruss and the dedicated team to amplify our message of faith, hope and companionship on this spiritual journey."
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Michael Beaudoin will be responsible for supporting the Diocese’s ministry and overseeing all financial matters and decisions affecting the overall mission of the diocese. Michael will also be the bishop’s representative to advisory committees, including the Diocesan Finance Council.
In an accounting and professional finance career that spans over 30 years, Michael has led and managed many teams in all areas of financial practices resulting in strategic growth and process improvements for several for-profit entities, including General Electric. He is a certified public accountant.
"I am beyond excited to join the mission team in the Diocese of Saginaw,” said Michael. “I pray daily that our Lord will give me the wisdom to be an effective contributor to his mission.”
Michael and his wife Carmen, who is a nurse, have relocated from Texas and are looking forward to being in the Diocese and finding ways to serve the community.
